Moving On Offers a Bible-Based Path Beyond Shame for Christians Who Can’t Let Go of Their Past

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A Scripture-grounded roadmap for believers whose past mistakes still seem to have a vote — with a companion Small Group Study Guide.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — October 17, 2026 — Doxa Theos Ministries announces Moving On: The Journey Beyond Shame to Live in Righteousness, a Christian book on overcoming shame and guilt by author and lay evangelist Paul T. Barham, together with the companion Moving On: Small Group Study Guide.

Many Christians believe God has forgiven them yet still live as though their worst moments define them. Moving On is written for readers whose shame keeps replaying old failures, whose guilt has outlasted its usefulness, or who are surrounded by people determined to remind them of who they used to be.

Across 10 chapters in three sections, the book lays a foundation in what salvation has already secured — sins forgiven and forgotten, an identity remade in Christ, and a salvation that cannot be lost — then turns to the battle for the mind between God’s hope and the enemy’s despair, and closes with a practical action plan: winning the battle in your own thoughts, handling the people who keep raising your past, making amends where it genuinely helps, and walking forward in everyday freedom. Two appendices offer trusted resources, including guidance on when to seek professional help, and a full Bible verse index.

Barham doesn’t approach the subject as a theory. He writes as a man who lived through marriage separation, addiction counseling, and estrangement from his own children, and who found the path back to freedom, purpose, and peace through Scripture.

Your past is real, and God is not asking you to pretend otherwise. He is asking you to stop letting it decide your future, because that was never its job, and because He has already decided the matter.

— from Moving On, Chapter 10, “Conclusion”

The Moving On: Small Group Study Guide is designed for working through the book with a small group or an accountability partner. Moving On is available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon, and the Study Guide is available in paperback. A chapter-by-chapter guide to the book is available on the Moving On book page.

About the Author

Paul T. Barham writes about love because he has needed it to survive. His own story includes marriage separation, addiction and recovery, and years spent rebuilding what estrangement had broken — the kind of wreckage that teaches you which parts of love actually hold. He is a bi-vocational lay evangelist who preaches about once a month at a small chapel in North Carolina, and a software engineering executive with a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science. Raised Southern Baptist, he now describes himself simply as a non-denominational, Bible-centered Christian. Paul believes the mark of a Christian isn’t correct doctrine alone — it’s love that survives contact with a broken life.
