Summary

  • Author: Paul T. Barham
  • Publisher: Doxa Theos Ministries (2026)

What if the answer to everything wrong with the world came down to one word?

War. Division. Loneliness. Broken families. Disease. Lay Christian evangelist and author Paul T. Barham makes a bold claim: beneath every headline and every heartache lies the same root cause—a world starved for real love. And as the world grows darker and the end draws nearer, that love is the one thing meant to set believers apart.

For The Love Of God: By this all people will know that you are my disciples is a practical, Scripture-rich guide to living out biblical love in every direction of life. Drawing from years of sermons and teaching, Barham walks readers through God’s plan for love and then into the hard, daily work of putting it into practice.

You’ll discover:

  • Why agape love—not feeling, but action—is the mark Jesus said would identify His followers (John 13:35)
  • How to love yourself rightly, free from both pride and self-condemnation, resting in who God says you are
  • How to love your family well, in marriage, parenting, and the everyday friction of home life
  • How to love fellow believers well—including a candid, compassionate chapter on healing from church hurt
  • How to love your neighbor, with practical compassion for the poor, the stranger, and the overlooked
  • How to love your enemies—perhaps the hardest command in all of Scripture, and the clearest proof that your love isn’t of this world

Organized in three clear sections—Understanding God’s Plan, Understanding Love, and How We Are to Love—this handbook moves from theology to real life without losing depth along the way. Every chapter is grounded in the New American Standard Bible (2020), with Scripture passages set apart for easy reading and reflection, so you’re not just taking the author’s word for it—you’re reading it for yourself.

Whether you’re a longtime Christian looking to deepen your walk, a small group searching for a study that gets past the surface, or someone simply exhausted by a loveless world and looking for a better way to live, this book offers a clear, biblical, and deeply practical path forward.

Includes a collection of useful prayers, a scripture-based look at the signs of the end times, and a moving closing story on the enduring power of love from the early church.

Because in the end, love isn’t just something Christians talk about. It’s the one thing the world is desperate to see.

About the Author

Paul T. Barham, author of For the Love of God, Christian minister and writer

Paul T. Barham writes about love because he has needed it to survive. His own story includes marriage separation, addiction and recovery, and years spent rebuilding what estrangement had broken — the kind of wreckage that teaches you which parts of love actually hold. He is a bi-vocational lay evangelist who preaches about once a month at a small chapel in North Carolina, and a software engineering executive with a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science. Raised Southern Baptist, he now describes himself simply as a non-denominational, Bible-centered Christian. Paul believes the mark of a Christian isn’t correct doctrine alone — it’s love that survives contact with a broken life.
