For the Love of God Calls Christians Back to the One Mark Jesus Said Would Identify His Followers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A Scripture-rich guide to agape love arrives with a Small Group Study Guide and a 365-day Daily Devotional.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — October 17, 2026 — Doxa Theos Ministries announces For the Love of God: By This All People Will Know That You Are My Disciples, a Christian book on agape love by author and lay evangelist Paul T. Barham, now available alongside two companion resources: the For the Love of God: Small Group Study Guide and the For the Love of God: Daily Devotional.

War, division, loneliness, broken families — Barham argues that beneath every headline lies the same root cause: a world starved for real love. For the Love of God makes the case that love, the mark Jesus said would identify His followers (John 13:35), is the one thing meant to set believers apart as the world grows darker.

Across 16 chapters in four sections, the book begins with the big picture of God’s plan, untangles what Scripture actually means by love — including the four Greek words for it — and then works outward in widening circles: loving God, loving yourself rightly, loving your family, loving fellow believers, loving your neighbor, and finally loving your enemy. Short interludes address avoiding judgment and vengeance and keeping healthy boundaries, and the book closes with a moving story about the Apostle John’s final years. Every chapter is grounded in the New American Standard Bible (2020).

God’s answer to a loveless world is a people who are known, above everything else, for love. … Love is God’s brand, and His people are meant to wear it.

— from For the Love of God, “Summary and Conclusion”

The Small Group Study Guide is built for small groups and classes working through the book together, and the Daily Devotional offers 365 days of reflections drawn from the book’s themes for personal or family devotion time.

For the Love of God is available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon; the Study Guide is available in paperback, and the Daily Devotional in paperback and Kindle. A chapter-by-chapter guide to the book is available on the For the Love of God book page.

About the Author

Paul T. Barham writes about love because he has needed it to survive. His own story includes marriage separation, addiction and recovery, and years spent rebuilding what estrangement had broken — the kind of wreckage that teaches you which parts of love actually hold. He is a bi-vocational lay evangelist who preaches about once a month at a small chapel in North Carolina, and a software engineering executive with a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science. Raised Southern Baptist, he now describes himself simply as a non-denominational, Bible-centered Christian. Paul believes the mark of a Christian isn’t correct doctrine alone — it’s love that survives contact with a broken life.
